Ocean Jasper*, also known as Orbicular Jasper, is a variety of Jasper primarily found along the intertidal shores of northeast Madagascar. It was created when varieties of quartz and feldspar crystalized in needle-like shapes within several types of volcanic rock, creating the unique orb-like patterns. Ocean Jasper comes in a wide variety of colors, including green, pink, white, yellow, red and black. One variant is known as Poppy Jasper, which specifically refers to samples from Santa Clara County, California. It is a member of the Quartz family, and because of this, carries a chemical signature of SiO2. Silicates are the most common stone on earth and appear in many forms.
Despite the name of Ocean Jasper, this crystal is aligned with the Earth element. In meditating and journeying with this stone, I learned of its amazing power to uplift a discouraged or disheartened spirit, bringing joy to your life. It exudes a calming and centering energy as well.
The patterns and images of its structure make it useful in energetic and regenerative healing on the cellular level. Note how closely this formation resembles the cells of the human body. It also assists in the ability to positively express one’s feelings, and so, while it is an Earth stone, it is associated with the Throat Chakra. It has also been associated with the Solar Plexus and Heart Chakras. Please remember that metaphysical meanings of stones are intended as supports to healing, and are not intended to be prescriptions or healthcare information.
